Born in Portersville, PA on October 10, 1924, he was the son of the late Earl and Hazel Wimer Badger.
A World War II veteran, Richard served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, following his graduation from East Liverpool High School in 1943.
For 30 years, he was employed at the former Crucible Steel Corporation. Following his retirement in 1982, he began work at the CC&W Machine Shop in East Liverpool.
A member of the Calcutta Church of the Nazarene, he served on the church board at one time. He was also a member of the East Liverpool Lions Club and the Blue & White Touchdown Club, and enjoyed participating in many ELHS Alumni Association events.
Surviving him at home is his wife of 63 years, Alice "Evelyene" Badger, whom he married on November 30, 1947.
Also surviving is a daughter, Deborah Sue Ludwig and her husband, Robert, of Port St. Lucie, FL, and a son, Richard A. Badger and his wife, Fonda, of Newell.
There are five grandchildren, Tracie Badger, Thomas Badger, Kira Badger, Lynnette Buchheit Holbrook, and her husband John and Eric R. Buchheit, and four great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. As well as a brother, Dean Badger and his wife, Ruth, of Dixonville, and a sister, Doris Curtis and her husband, David, of N. Chili, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Morgan and Marie Bice, as well as a brother, Robert Badger.
