HOBBSVILLE - Edna Ward White, 87, of the 200 block of Punch Bowl Road, died Jan. 18, 2001, in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News.
Mrs. White was born in Gates County, the daughter of the late Luther and Dode Hobbs Ward. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late Fentress White. A member of Warwick Baptist Church, she had been active in the Adult Ladies Sunday School class and the Minnie Spivey Circle.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie W. Hudgins of Hampton; a son, William Marvin White Sr. of Elizabeth City; a sister, Myrtle Baker of Edenton; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jarvis Ray White.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Warwick Baptist Church by Dr. Charles Jones with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and again in the church social hall following services on Saturday. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday for the procession.
