Funeral services were held at the Perryman-Nelson Chapel today for Alfred Adams, Jr., 82, Red Oak, retired farmer and a resident of this county for 68 years. He died Saturday, July 25, 1959, at Marshall Manor after an extended illness.
The Rev. Scott Libbey of Grinnell officiated at the services and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery with Masonic services at the graveside by Summitt Lodge No. 493. AF & AM.
The son of Alfred and Harriett Hallcock Adams, he was born March 28, 1877 at Bradford, Illinois and was married in 1903 to Clara Askey, three children were born to them, Ira A., Flora E., and Lynn. She died in 1929. On November 17, 1931 in Papillion, Sarpy County, Nebraska he married Elsie Leona Wendler Gemmill, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Volney Dahlstrom, Stanton; two sons, Lynn of Elliott, and Ira of Stanton; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Garey, Atlantic, Iowa, two brothers, William and Albert, both of Elliott.
Mr. Adams had been a Pilot Grove Township trustee and was a member of the BPOE here and Summitt Lodge No. 493, AF & AM, Elliott.
