Jesse Richard "Dick" Matson, 81 of Zanesville, died 3:26 PM Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sunday, January 20, 1929 in McConnelsville, the son of Jesse A Matson and Sarah Elsie (North) Matson.
He married Beverly June (Watkins) Matson on Saturday, April 8, 1995 and was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.
Dick worked for David Davies Meat Packing, Southeast Tire and retired from The Firestone Tire Company follow many years of service.
Dick was a hard working man who was dedicated to his job and a religious man of great faith.
Dick is survived by his wife of the home; children and step-children: Randall (Teresa) Matson, Christopher (Margaret) Matson, Richard (Melodie) Matson all of Zanesville, Doug Wilson of Athens and Duayne (Amy) Wilson of Zanesville; Betty (Paul) Elliott of New Concord, Cheryl Wilson of Newark, Amy (Waylon) Mohler of Cambridge and Debby (Mike) Matson of Iowa; eleven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; his first wife: Kathryn Matson of Zanesville; one sister: and Evelyn Healy of Mc Connelsville; one brother: William ‘'Russell'' (Marlene) Matson of Zanesville and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Christine Matson and several brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 11,2011 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue and one hour prior to funeral services from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, where Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Cane officiating.
Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
