Church service for Glen E. McDaniel, age 84, of Morton is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at First Missionary Baptist Church, Morton, with Rev. Eugene Bragg, his brother-in-law, and Rev. Clay Coursey officiating.

Burial will be at Morton Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Morton.

Mr. McDaniel died Monday, January 24, 2011 in Morton. He was born August 20, 1926 to Edgar and Bess (Alexander) McDaniel in Greensville, Texas. He married Kathleen Bragg in Morton on September 15, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gene, Marvin and Gary McDaniel.

Mr. McDaniel had lived in Morton since 1939, having moved from Greenville, Texas. He was a 1943 graduate of Morton High School. He was self-employed from 1947 to 1972. He was tax assessor-collector for Cochran County from 1973 to 1980. He was a registered professional appraiser and was Chief Appraiser for Cochran County Appraisal District from 1980 to 1992. He served in the US Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Steinle and husband Tony, of Morton and Vivian Windom and husband Ronald of Ruidoso, N.M.; brother, Bill McDaniel and wife Joye, of Ft. Worth; two granddaughters, Chanda Cole and Tamara Steinle; and one great-grandson, Carlton Anthony Cole.
