Robert M. "Herky" Colgan, 79, Rattlesnake Road, Brockway, died Sunday at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 17, 1931, in Brockway, a son of the late Doyle and Mary Harvey Colgan.

He was married to Patricia Siple on April 9, 1951. She survives.

He was a member of the Lanes Mills United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Sugar Hill Grange, Toby Creek Watershed Association and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He also liked to work in his garden, especially growing garlic and horseradish with his son Tom. He had been employed as a truck driver for Cramer Lumber in Brockway for 10 years and retired as store room manager at Brockway Glass after 32 years.

Survivors include two sons, Robert M. (Diane) Colgan of Ridgway and Thomas M. (Laura) Colgan of Brockway; a daughter, Ruth "Annie" (Ron) Waters of Mansfield; a brother, Raymond Colgan of DuBois; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by an infant brother; and three sisters, Elaine Wales, Irene Daughenbaugh and Katherine Sheley.

COLGAN: Robert M. "Herky," Rattlesnake Road, Brockway, died Jan. 23, 2011. Visitation will be private at the convenience of the family. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lanes Mills United Methodist Church with Pastor Maggie Foreman officiating.

Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Brockway Ambulance, Lanes Mills United Methodist Church or Toby Creek Watershed Association.

The Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc., Brockway, is in charge of arrangements.
