James was the son of:Sam Lay and Betty OAKS-Lay

Husband of Susie Egner

Father of:Nanny, Rebecca, Mary, Ben.

All 3 of his daughters Married the Collins brothers.
Mary Married: Thomas Collins
Rebecca Married: Aaron Collins AKA: Biggon
Nanny Married: Yancy Collins

Ben died when only 1 day old.

I do not know what Grandpa Lay did for a living but the census say " he worked on farm, also day laborer, also Gear worker what ever that is ". But everytime we went down to Corbin, Kentucky to visit the family he was always home but he was an old man , so he did not work. I know his brother had a large farm .
