Lowell Hugh Curry, 68, 719 S. Hawthorne, died Thursday night at Ball Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Curry was born in Rush County and came to the Delaware County community as a youth with his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Metta Parvis Curry. He attended Royerton School.
Following discharge from the Army Air Corps after World War II, he returned to Delaware County and for several years was employed in the zinc mill at Ball Corp. He later was a driver form Covalt's Dairy and then for Riggin Dairy. At the time of his retirement, he was employed at Indiana Bridge Company.
In more recent years Mr. Curry was bailiff when Raymond Brassart was City Court judge and prior to his illness was an employee with the Delaware County highway department. He was a former precinct 42 committeeman and a member of Delaware Lodge 46, F&AM, Moose Lodge 33, Amvets, and Rooster Booster Club.
Surviving are his wife, Helen M. (Jackson) Curry; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Jacquelyn Jo) Jones, Muncie; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Max Curry, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. John (Connie) Rogers, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Meeks Mortuary. Rev. Wally Gilbert, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Members of Delaware Lodge of Masons will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
