She was born February 14, 1929, at East Fork, in Bath County, and was the daughter of the late Cleve Buckler and Nara Ellis Buckler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters, and her husband, Lee Roy Day on November 16, 1986.
Ottie is survived by one son, Ronnie Day and wife Roylene; one daughter, Judy Pennington and husband Lowell, all of Morehead; one brother, Gene Buckler of Clearfield; one sister, Mary Etta Coyle of Owingsville; five grandchildren, Nicky Jones, Josh Day, Lana Bowling, Brice Day, and Hannah Hall; seven great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Ottie and Roy owned and operated Day's One Hour Cleaners for 17 years and later established Day's Grocery that was located on Center Street for many years. They also owned and operated Day's Rentals and Eagle Transit Company. Ottie retired after 25 years of dietary service for Rowan County Board of Education.
She enjoyed ironing, talking on the phone, traveling, playing with her dog Riley "Doodle Bug", and loved having company. She will be remembered with love and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Josh Day, JJ Jones, Mikey Henderson, Zachary Jones, Brandon Barker, Brandon Loper, Jeff Anderson, and Jim Tom Trent.
