Mrs. Chamberlain Is
Summoned By Death

Following a long illness and many weeks of intense suffering, Mrs. Harry Chamberlain passed away Monday evening [June 22, 1931] at her home on South Union street in this city. Prominently active in church and lodge functions, her death comes as a distinct loss not only to those organizations but also to her scores of friends in Stark county.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Toulon M. E. church. Rev. Thomas A. Spencer, pastor of the West Jersey M. E. church, will be in charge of the services. Members of the Relief Corps will attend in a body.

The song service will be in charge of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Wasson, who will sing "Rock of Ages" and "A Perfect Day." The accompanist will be Mrs. Dwain Wallace.

Body bearers will be Arthur Chamberlain, George Swank, Delmar Greenwell, Francis Cree, Walter Rayfield and Orville Tucker.

Interment will be in Toulon mausoleum.

Born in Peoria County.

Ellen Elizabeth (Roney) Chamberlain was born on the Roney homestead in Millbrook township, Peoria county, Illinois, January 9, 1869 and passed away at her home in Toulon June 22, 1931, at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was the eldest of the family of eight childred born to Hugh and Cynthia (Pryor) Roney.

She was united in marriage with Harry Chamberlain December 22, 1897. She was preceded in death by her parents, who were laid to rest several years ago; one sister, Mrs. Cora Swank, of LaFayette, who died March 28, 1928; and one brother, John F. Roney, who died March 22, 1930.

She is survived by her husband, three sisters and two brothers, the brothers and sisters being as follows: William C. Roney, of Perry, Iowa; Mrs. H. E. Chamberlain, of Stark; James C. Roney, of Lund, Minnesota; Mrs. F. M. Cree, of Toulon; and Mrs. E. H. Greenwell of Wyoming; also an aged aunt, Mrs. John R. Smith, of Rogue River, Washington. She also leaves seven nephews, four nieces, many near relatives and a large circle of friends.

Mrs. Chamberlain was an active member of the Methodist church and its affiliated organizations since her youth and was a charter member of the West Jersey Rebekah lodge. Since coming to Toulon, she had been an active member of the Women's Relief Corps. Her entire life time of helpfulness and service to others spent in Peoria and Stark counties.
