Melvis "Sonny" George, 74, of Marietta, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at his home. Services were held Friday, November 8. Burial was in the Sumner's Chapel Cemetery in East Marietta.
Local survivors include a son, Billy Joe and his wife, Carol, of Tupelo; two sisters, Maxie Gatlin and Lena Barnes of Marietta; a brother, Garvis George of Wheeler. Two special friends, Billy Joe and Merline Barnes, six grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
