Guy Wendell Sparks was born in Pilot Grove, Texas son of Jasper and Cora Lee Davis Sparks. On May 2, 1942 he married Marjorie Nell Blackwell in Durant, Oklahoma. He graduated from Tom Bean High School then contiued his education at North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, Texas. During World War II he served in the Air Force and was stationed with the occupation forces in Japan and later at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas. He retired from the Frisco Railroad after 51 years in 1980.
