MUSCLE SHOALS -- The funeral for Harvey D. Welborn, 84, 103 W. Michigan Ave., will be at 1 p.m. today at South Highland Freewill Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, with Duane Taylor and Hoover Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Decatur, Spry Funeral Home, Sheffield, directing.

The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

He died Wednesday, March 4, 1992, at Humana Hospital, Muscle Shoals.

He was a native of Franklin County and lived in the Shoals area for 20 years after moving from Decatur. He was a member and deacon at South Highland Freewill Baptist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. He retired in 1972 after 19 years of service as a teacher in the Morgan County school system.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Freeman Welborn, Muscle Shoals; sister, Macie Duke, Florence; nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to South Highland Freewill Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals.

Bearers will be Frank Evans, Tommy Freeman, Wayne Duke, Oscar Duke, Weldon Welborn and Stanley Freeman.
