Charles W. Bradford, 80, of Newark, died at his home at 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, following a long illness. He was born in Grafton Aug. 9, 1875, the son of the late Scott and Berthena Warder Bradford. He was employed by the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey until his retirement in July of 1936. He is survived by his widow, Rachel Hunt Bradford; five sons, Reginald Bradford of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Walter Bradford of Charleston, William Bradford of Industry, Pa., Thomas Bradford of Columbus, Ohio, and Elwood Bradford of Parkersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Melvin, of University, Pa., and Mrs. Kathleen Vernon, Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and three step-sons, Willard and Ernest Bennett of Newark and B.F. Bennett of Huntington. Funeral services were held Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home with the Rev. H. Malcolm Sturm officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
