Wilfred C. Kruse, 92, of Houghton, died at 11:00 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 13, 2011, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He was born March 6, 1918, near St. Paul, IA, the son of Edward and Ida Holtkamp Kruse. On Oct. 23, 1945, he married Matilda C. "Tillie" Moeller at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in West Point, IA. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2009.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Karen Anderson of West Burlington, IA, Marie (Jerry) Ziegler of Danville, Iowa, Elizabethr (Bob) Fedler of Salem, IA; 1 son: Kenny (Linda) Kruse of West Point, IA, 10 grandchilddren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandhildren: 1 brother (Stylester(Thelma) Kruse of Hillsboro, IA; 4 sisters: Tillie Steffensmeier of Houghton, IA, Cecilia Kelsner of St. Paul, IA, Marcella Moore of Ft. Madison,IA, Agnes Stuekerjuergen of St. Paul, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers: Joe, Albert and Larence, and 3 sisters: Helen, Gertrude and Edna.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, IA, the Houghton Knights of Columbus, and the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668 in West Point. He was a World War II Army Veteran.
Burial in in St. John's Cemetery in Houghton, IA, with full military graveside rites by the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668 of West Point.
