Mrs. Bertha Lamb, 89, of 710 S. 2nd Street died at the Sherman Nursing Home Friday afternoon [January 6, 1967] where she had been a patient since April. She had been in failing health for two years.

Born Bertha Pieter, August 10, 1877 at Eagle City, she was the daughter of John and Mary Eagle Pieter. She received her education in the area of her birth.

On March 22, 1899, in Eldora, she was married to Charles Elsworth Lamb and they lived in Eldora for four years, in Minnesota for 17 years, a short time in North Dakota and returned to Hardin County where they lived until moving to LeGrand in 1925. After the death of Mr. Lamb in 1942 she spent a year at the home of her son in Yakima, Wash., and for the last 22 years has lived with her daughter Mrs. Hollis (Clara) Eash in Marshalltown.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, 16 brothers and sisters and a granddaughter.

Surviving are seven children, Arthur Lamb of Manawa, Wis., Mrs. J.L. (Elta) Rogers of New Hartford; Harold Lamb, Zillah, Wash; Cleo Lamb, Mrs. Doren (Jessie) Huffaker; Mrs. Clifford (Helen) Huffaker; and Mrs. Hollis (Clara) Eash, all of Marshalltown. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and she was the last surviving member of a family of 17 children.

Services will be from the chapel of Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Russell Casey, pastor of the Hillside Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery.
