He had a happy childhood, enjoying the beaches and movies on most Saturdays, 11 cents at the time.
When his family moved to Shrewsbury, Ma. He helped with his dad's business, George C. Whiting & Son.
He was only 17 when he decided to sign up for the Air Force. Before that he attended Beal High School in Shrewsbury.
