Walton was the son of Charles William DeWitt & Emma Louise Mitcheltree. He married Olive Baker on 27 MAR 1927 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

May 25, 1985 - Kossuth County Advance - Funeral service for Walton L. DeWitt of Kanawha, a former Livermore resident, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, in the chapel of the Schellhammer Funeral home at West Bend. The Rev. Linda Donelson of the West Bent United Methodist Church officiated and burial was in Union Cemetery at Livermore. Casket bearers were Jerry Frederiksen, Ivan Frederiksen, Rick Kelling, Art Becker, Dan Chapman and Bernie Michelson.

Walton Leslie DeWitt, son of Charles and Emma Mitcheltree DeWitt, was born at West Bend Nov. 25, 1899. He was raised and educated at West Bend and married Olive Luella Baker at Fort Dodge in 1927. The DeWitts lived at West Bend where Walton worked in the poultry business. They moved to the Livermore-Bode area in 1944 and he was a farm laborer. Mrs. DeWitt died in 1966 and he continued to live at Livermore until 1984 when he moved into the Kanawha Community Home.

Mr. DeWitt died of congestive heart failure on May 17 at the Kanawha Community Home. He was 85.

A daughter and son survive. They are Jeri Maurine Schaffer, Clarion and Steven Charles DeWitt, Woodward, Ia. There are 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. One brother, Errol DeWitt, lives at Maywood, Illinois.

A daughter, Alice Myers, is
deceased.
