Mrs. Emma R. Banks, age 94, of Jacksonville Florida, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at her residence after a short illness, under the care of Haven Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a native of Toombs County, living the last 7-8 years in Florida with her daughter. She was a homemaker and a former member of Providence Baptist Church of Lyons. Mrs. Banks was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Banks.
Survivors include, two daughters; Betty Vernon of Middleburg Florida, and Billie Mills and her husband John, of Jacksonville Florida, one brother; W.M. Newsome of Apalachacola, FL, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Emma R. Banks will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Chapel of Stewart Funeral Service of Vidalia, with Reverend Glenn Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Marvin United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2011.
