Raymond Actis, 82, of 412 W. Dakota St., Spring Valley, died at 5 a.m. March 14, 2003, in his home after several months of illness.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley and a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley. The Rev. Bruce Lopez will officiate. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Barto Funeral Home. American Legion memorial service will be at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Actis was born on Dec. 3, 1920, in Spring Valley to John and Sarah Sally (Sadnick) Actis. He married Delores Baracani on Oct. 3, 1948, in St. Anthony Church in Spring Valley.

He worked as a laborer on construction and was last employed by Maze Lumber Co. in Peru. He was a member of Laborers Local 287 and of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations, Philippines Islands and China. He held the rank of machinist mate 2/c. He was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Delores; three sons, Raymond A. (Dolores) Actis of Spring Valley, Mark S. (Denise) Actis of Spring Valley and Mike Max (Jackie) Actis of Spring Valley; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Johanna (Clarence) Kooh of Ladd and Catherine (Mel) Jordan of Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by two bothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to St. Margaret's Hospital Hospice.
