Funeral services were held at the Memorial Baptist Church of Oakwood Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Austin Roach, who died at 11:35 Friday night, following a heart attack. Rev. A. C. Queen conducted the services. Internment was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Roach, 64, was born in Leon County near Oakwood and had resided in and near Oakwood all of her life. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for 48 years. For many years she owned and operated a café in Oakwood and was widely known in the county.
Surviving Mrs. Roach are her husband; one son, Herbert Roach of Keechi; three brothers, John Lamons [sic] of Harlingen, Charley Lamons of Lyford, and Lon Lamons of Oakwood; one sister, Mrs. Nona Cox of Amarillo; and four grandchildren.
