William's parents were Joseph Seymour and Eunice Hubbard.

He was a ship's Captain. He had 4 sisters and 2 brothers: Joseph and Manuel Francis a.k.a. Frank. Manuel was 18th mate on William's ship and took over when William had his "shock" in Sag Harbor, New York. They said at the time that it was due to sunstroke. But putting clues of symptons together, the family now thinks he had something like Alzheimer's. He married Mary Ann Wheaton on April 8, 1858. He took his wife on one of his business trips, on a boat he captained, to China. His cargo was guano (excrement of sea birds used as fertilizer). It was on this trip that William and Mary Ann's twins were conceived. The twins were Jennie Louise Seymour and Maria (May) Wheaton Seymour. Jennie is my great-grandmother.
The Captain built a house at 77 Rumstick Road in Barrington, RI. It is still there, in excellent condition and registered with the Preservation Society.
He and his wife lived there for 3 years when the Capt. became ill. Due to money problems, they sold this home and moved to Water Street in Warren, RI.
