Lars was born in Sjelland Denmark, and emmigrated to the United States in 1880, going directly to the Cedar Falls area. He moved to the Cedar Rapids area, where he met and married Louise Anderson in 1888. Following Louise's death in 1904, he returned to the Cedar Falls area. He married Anne Marie Hansen on Jan. 19, 1909. Following Anne's death, in 1939, he lived with his daughter until his death in 1949.
