---Friends here were sorry to learn of the death of Dan Self which occurred at his home Friday evening at 8:00.
---Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church here Sunday afternoon at 2:00 conducted by Rev. Fred L. Hudson, pastor of the church. Burial was in the La Plata cemetery.
---Daniel Porter Self was born April 22, 1881 near La Plata, Missouri, the son of Porter F. and Catherine Self and died Friday evening, August 14, 1936 at his home in La Plata. A blood clot around his heart caused his death instantly. He was fifty-five years, three months and twenty-two days of age.
---In early life he united with the South Methodist Church in La Plata.
---He was married to Bessie Pearl Crosby on February 20, 1907 and two children were born. The son died in infancy, Mrs. Self died July 25, 1931.
---He was married to Mrs. Mamie Crosby on July 30, 1932.
---For seven years he resided in Vinton, Iowa. The remainder of his life was spent in and near La Plata.
---His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
---Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Leona, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Flickinger, both of Vinton, Iowa and many relatives and friends.
