Herman A. Selje, 62, of 1143 E. Gorham St., a machine operator at Gisholt Machine Co., for the past 33 years, died Wednesday night at a local hospital after a short illness. He was born at Morrisonville Sept. 16, 1895, and had lived in Madison for 33 years.

He was a osn of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amund Selje. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church here, Madison Eagles Lodge, and Local 1404, United Steelworkers of America.

Surviving Mr. Selje are his wife, Hilda, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Lunde, 2403 Upham St., Madison, and Mrs. John Rasmussen, Eau Claire; and three brothers, Arnold, 24 N. Baldwin St.; Bert, 1918 Schlimgen Ave., and Ove, 318 Amoth Ct., all of Madison.

Friends may call at the Gunderson Winnebago Street Funeral Home from 3 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday when the body will taken to Zion Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held there Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Finn Hansen, Lutheran Welfare chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn.
