Chico Enterprise Record, Thursday, November 4, 1965: "C.R. Jewett. Claude Raymond Jewett, who had made his home in Chico since 1910, died this morning at the Chico Convalescent Hospital.
"He was born in 1883 at Gregory's Landing, MO. He came to Nord to work in 1906. He later worked for the Hawk Hop Ranch at Nicolaus for a number of years and at one time he farmed near Durham, always maintaining his home in Chico. His wife, Ella, preceded him in death in 1955.
"Surviving is a brother, J.V. Pullins, of Chico; a sister, Mrs. Lottie Burson of Sacramento; and two step-grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be held in the Timmons-Van Hook Funeral Chapel on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Orval L. Seago of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery."
