J. Quintin Biagi, Sr., 83, died Tuesday, January 18th in the Todds Point area of Simpsonville. He was a member of Catholic Church of the Annunciation where he was a member and past president of the Parish Council and a longtime chairperson for the Lawn Fete. He also served on the Art and Liturgy for the Archdiocese of Louisville. During high school he was active in the band, football, basketball, Tri-Hi Club, and won the Best All-Around Boy award his senior year. He attended the University of Louisville where he had been active in the Navy ROTC. In 1954 he received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. He also had been a member of the Architecture Honorary Society. He received his professional registration in architecture for Kentucky in 1954 and Indiana in 1960. He worked for MuCulloch Bickle Architects in Louisville from 1954-1957 and worked as an architect for over 50 years in Shelbyville. From 1958-1965, he taught at the College of Architecture for the University of Kentucky. He also was a member of the American Institute of Architects. He served Shelby County as president of the Shelby County Community Theatre from 1981-1984 and as a founding member of SCOPE. He was a founding member of Save Our Land and was also was a founding member and chairperson (1985-1990) of the Shelbyville Historic District Commission. During his lifetime, he won the Rotary Club Man of the Year award and the AIA Design Award for Dr. Whitaker's Dentist Office (now the office for Drs. Buecker and Long).


He was preceded in death by his parents, Annibale and Alberta DuBourg Biagi; and his wife, Sallyann Carr Biagi. He is survived by his sons, Christopher Biagi of Yukon, OK, David Biagi (Tricia) of Todds Point, and Quintin Biagi, Jr. (Sharon) of Shelbyville; his brother, Achille Biagi (Eileen) of Evansville, IN; his grandchildren, Tristan Biagi of Louisville, Gretchen Biagi of Yukon, OK, Sophia Biagi of Todds Point, Leo Biagi of Todds Point, Gabriel Biagi of Shelbyville, and Lilia Biagi of Shelbyville.


Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation. Visitation: 3-9 p.m. Friday at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery.
