Hazel Bernice Andrus passed away on July 20, 2000 at Crosslands Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Bernice was born on August 23, 1909 in Oakley, Idaho to Elmer B. and Sara Elision Mecham. Bernice lived most of her life in Holladay. She graduated from East High School and later attended the University of Utah.
She taught at the Holladay Preschool and also worked at ZCMI as a clothing buyer.
She married her sweetheart Owen Eldredge Andrus on January 13, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity, they were married for 40 years.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ferguson and her children; Owen R. Andrus (Maureen) and Charles Andrus (Marcy), three grandchildren; Teresa Mullen (Patrick), Tara Mondale (Michael) and Tiffany Andrus. She is preceded in death by her husband, Owen, her brother Allan and sister Lavon Mecham.
The family wishes to express thanks to the nurses at Crosslands Nursing home for caring for Bernice with dignity and love. A special thanks to Brenda for love, assistance and support.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at the Holladay 14th Ward, 4650 South Naniloa Drive. Friends may visit Tuesday evening at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive from 6-8 p.m. A viewing will be held at the ward from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens Cemetery.
