Paul H. "P.V." Voelz, 82, of Sycamore Street, died at 7:41 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Voelz retired in 1989 after 20 years as a bus driver with Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. He retired in 1985 from the Moose Lodge where he had been adminstrator for 38 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the 168th Combat Team of the Army's 34th Infantry and received the combat infantry badge for service during the invasion of North Africa.

Mr. Voelz was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police and the Moose Lodge where he obtained the second and third degrees and Pilgrim of the Moose. He also was a member of Indiana Sheriff's Association and past president of Bus Drivers Association.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel, on 25th Street with the Rev. Robert Muncie officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Monday. A Moose memorial service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mr. Voelz was born in Columbus March 27, 1920, the son of Clarence "Boots" and Mary Mayme Fox Voelz. He married Norma R. Davis Tatem on Feb. 5, 1952, in Columbus. She died Aug. 24, 1993.

Surviving are daughters, Jill Lawson of Columbus and Susan Sabatino of Greenwood; sons, Douglas Voelz of Sparks, Nev., and Michael Voelz of Noblesville; nine grandchildren; and two great–grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Edward and Francis Voelz.
