Her beginnings were rough. Her Mother passed away when she was only 4 years old. An 8th grade education was all you got in a one-room schoolhouse in Mississippi in the 1930's.

She was an expert seamstress. Sewing for many years at the Irwin B. Schwabe Shirt Factory. Keeping seven children in shoes, clothes, and fed in addition to working the family farm. Later in life she had all three Sons in the Military during the Viet-Nam era. All three Sons returned home safely.

There were some tragedies as often happens in life. She endured the death of a Child, a Husband and three Grandchildren, and all her Siblings. She picked up the pieces and without complaint moved forward. Her strength through adversity was in inspiration.

She and her Husband ran Tigrett's Grocery through the 1980's. A small "Mom & Pop" store that specialized in fresh sandwiches, cold drinks and chips. The store closed its doors in 1986.

After the passing of her Husband she began working in the Dining Hall in Blue Mountain College. For several years she enjoyed interacting with the students. An Automobile accident prevented her from ever working again. Meanwhile she rejoiced in the arrival of 15 Grandchildren, 24 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great Great-grandchildren.

Now in her twilight years, the body becomes frail, and the mind becomes cloudy. Nine decades have passed. Time to go home.

The cookie jar in her home was always full. Now the cookie jar in our hearts will always be full of memories.
