Sgt. Ernest H. Colebert was one of several Olean soldiers who died during the breaking of the Hindenberg Line in late September 1918. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hosea V. Colebert of South Tenth Street. His body was returned to Olean on April 12, 1921. His funeral was held from the First Baptist Church, and he was buried alongside Pvt. Ole B. Olson, a comrade at arms who was killed at the same time.
