Dead at Wauconda

Mrs. Augusta Andrews, mother of Mrs. Lewis C. Price of Waukegan died at 5:30 Sunday morning at her home in the village of Wauconda, while her daughter was in Waukegan awaiting announcement of the fate of her husband in the Circuit court. Previous to the trial here, Mrs. Price had attended her mother six weeks.
The late Mrs. Andrews came to this county in 1834. The funeral was held at Diamond Lake at 1 Friday afternoon. The late Ortic (sic Horace) Andrews, her husband, died forty years ago.
Mrs. Augusta Andrews, whose name prior to her marriage was Miss Augusta Houghton, was born in Vermont, Nov. 5, 1824, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amaiam Houghton. The mother of Mrs. Andrews died when she was about two years of age and she was reared by her father alone.
She attended a regular school but three weeks in her life, although by a close application to study she became well versed in many subjects.
When Mrs. Andrews was but a young woman, she came with her father and one sister to Batavia, Ill., where she became acquainted with Mr. Andrews, then a carpenter in that city. They were finally married January 12, 1845.
Ten years after their marriage they moved to Lake county settling in Ela township, where Mr. Andrews continued to work at his trade as a carpenter. His death occured (sic) May 22, 1865. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Andrews has managed the large farm in Ela township almost up to the time of her death.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by five children: Marcus E. Libertyville, Milo A., a merchant at Gilmer, Ill., Mrs. Alice P. Price, Lucy I of Lake Forest and Edward L., also of Lake Forest. Three other children, Albert, Horace and Mary Augusta are dead."
