Life held many blessings for Stephanie Lehr. She lived completely and fully at every opportunity, and found love in the hearts of those around her. Through her outgoing and fun-loving nature, Steph had a wit and personality all her own. Straight from the heart, her life imprint has indeed been left in a remarkable way as she touched many through her kind and generous ways. The world has been made a better place because of her, and she will be long remembered for the beautiful light she brought to the lives of those who knew, loved and prayed for her.

The year 1980 was a time of transition in America. Although the new decade held high hopes for many, the economy suffered greatly, and it was only the beginning of a recession which would set the nation back financially. It was also the year John Lennon of the Beatles fame was tragically murdered, and the "Prozac Nation" made its inception while "crack" found its way on many American streets. In light of the day's struggles, the world of electronics and computers was increasing by the minute which redirected the country into a whole new way of doing business. It was into these changing times on June 26, 1980 when Rick Lehr and Jan Holcomb welcomed the birth of their beautiful daughter, Stephanie Dawn into their lives.

Born in Danville, Indiana, Stephanie's family made their home in Monrovia where Stephanie grew up with siblings Dean, Olivia and Brandon. She enjoyed a typical childhood during the days of Cabbage Patch Dolls, Care Bears and Teddy Ruxpin. From an early age she detested bugs which as a young girl didn't bode well with her love of fishing, but she continued to enjoy doing so throughout her life. Having attended the Monrovia Public Schools since the first grade, Stephanie made many friends during her school years and from the start was a well liked girl.

Affectionately known as "Steph", she was true to herself and certainly "kept life interesting" for her parents with her uncanny and lighthearted ways which were all her own. She was known as a trendsetter in high school when it came to fashion, often implementing her mother's old clothes long before it was popular to wear vintage clothing. During high school she kept quite active and was very social, spending time with friends and attending concerts. With her giving and generous heart, she also volunteered at handicap camps before going on to graduate from Monrovia High School in 1998.

Following high school Steph began working at Centerstone in Mooresville and worked at Applebee's Restaurant in Plainfield for a time, too. She later landed a position as an employment consultant for Sycamore Services. Stephanie enjoyed listening to music, especially from the 70's and 80's. She continued her love of fishing and enjoyed dancing, but most of all simply loved spending time with her family and many friends. When she gave birth to her son Jayden, there was nothing greater for Steph than holding him in her loving arms. He brought great joy to her life and with him by her side there was no place she'd rather be. She loved taking him fishing, and as an active ten year old involved in many things, Steph took an active role in his life. She was sure to support him attending his many sporting events and activities such as baseball, basketball and football practices and games.

Like her father, Steph was fun-loving and lighthearted whose playful nature could bring smiles to those in her company, most often with her off-the-cuff goofiness. Lovingly honest, she was never one to beat around the bush and had a "tell it like it is" disposition, but everyone always knew where they stood with her. However, at the very core of Steph's heart she was a caring and compassionate woman. Thoughtful in every way, she looked for ways to help those in need and possessed a protective type of motherly love instinct towards those she loved and cared about. She gave and loved straight from the heart which will be long remembered. Known for her beautiful, long flowing hair and in keeping with her generous spirit, she would later come to donate it to the Locks for Love program.

Steph eventually found love in the arms of Chris Jines who changed her life in a remarkable way. They began dating several years ago and after falling deeply in love, began making plans to be married. Overjoyed with the discovery of having another child to love, she was excited at the prospect of their upcoming marriage and making a good home together for Jayden and his new sibling. Steph thoroughly enjoyed her pregnancy which went extremely well. There were no issues or complications and they each were anticipating a new bundle of joy to love.

In what seemed like a normal pregnancy and labor, Steph suffered several complications immediately following the birth of her precious baby boy, Jace. She was blessed to have held him close for a brief time, but her health quickly led to a downhill spiral shortly thereafter. Diagnosed with DIC, Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, and although it was a two in a million type of scenario, the unyielding bleeding would not cease despite medical intervention.

Throughout her month long battle for life, Steph touched and impacted the hearts and lives of many. Her family was truly amazed and blessed how this tragedy brought people close to her back to the power of prayer. Across the nation and throughout the globe, people everywhere were praying for this young mother who had so much to live for. Although she fought hard while the doctors worked tirelessly to save her, in the end the complications were just too much. At the age of 30 years old, Stephanie Lehr sadly died on Friday, January 14, 2011, less than a month after giving birth to her second son, Jace at St. Vincent Hospital.

With ways all her own, Stephanie was a remarkable young woman who added much to the lives around her. Caring and giving straight from the heart, her loving and compassionate personality was a blessing. She had a way of being lovingly honest and was thoughtful in all she did. Throughout her 30 years, Steph was well loved and touched many simply for who she was. Through her illness, she greatly impacted the lives of not only the people who knew and loved her, but those who were complete strangers. Sadly missed, her light and love will shine on as she is lovingly remembered with joy.

Stephanie was a loving mother to her sons, Jayden Ray Green and Jace Michael Jines; the daughter of Jan Holcomb-Cummick (Larry) and Rick (Kaye) Lehr; sister of Dean (Margie) Pruitt, Olivia Lehr and Brandon Lehr; granddaughter of Jody Lehr; fiancée of Chris Jines; the aunt of Cooper Lee Pruitt, as well as a niece and cousin to many extended, loving family members.
