Jim was born on December 29, 1919 in Washington D.C. In 1920 the family moved to Bethesda, Md. where he lived the majority of his life. He honorably served his country with the United States Army. After graduating from Benjamin Franklin Business College in Washington D.C. in 1948 he was employed briefly by Ernst & Ernst CPA firm in Richmond Va. Jim then took employment with the US Government dept of Health and Human Services in finance until retirement in 1983.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille, of 62 years; grandson, Eric and wife, Kellie; and two great grandchildren, Colin and Morgan.
The family will have a private burial 12 noon Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
A memorial service and reception will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the First Prebyterian Church in Asheville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville or to Deerfield Residency Fund.
