Sophie was born February 10, 1920 in Sharon a daughter of Frank and Antoinette Miklavcic Luin.
She was raised in Farrell where she attended school and was employed at the former Sharon General Hospital's dietary department; the former New Villa Restaurant, Farrell; the former Brass Rail Restaurant, Sharon; Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant; and the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Sophie moved to Akron in 1973 and was the food manager for the Sisters of Divine Charity for twelve years before retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the America, Farrell Court. Sophie was also a member of the Leonora Hall Auxiliary, Akron; the Slovenian Home, Lodge # 755, Farrell; the Slovenian National Benefit Society, Lodge # 262; and the American Fraternal Union, Lodge # 174. Sophie never married.
Surviving are a sister, Sister Antoinette Luin, F.D.C. (Daughters of Divine Charity), Akron, Ohio; and a niece, Mary Frances Lombardi, Masury, Ohio.
Besides her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Luin; and a sister, Theresa Skertic.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Anthony's Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146; or to Daughters of Divine Charity, 39 N. Portage Path, Akron, Ohio 44303.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Tuesday (12-21-10) in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Daniel Kresinski, pastor, as celebrant.
Family will receive friends in the church one hour before the Mass.
