Thomas, age 16, enlisted in the Confederate States Army on 20 December 1861 at Cantonment Bee, Arkansas. He was mustered as a Private in Company I, 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles. He died at a Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 1863.
