FLATONIA - Ladislav "Lad" J. Mares, 89, of Flatonia, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004.
He was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Cistern, to the late Joseph and Matilda Mares. He was a rancher and a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Cistern.

Survivors: numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: sisters, Annie Vinklarek, Albina Hobizal, Bessie Adamcek and Matilda Hanzelka.

A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. tonight at Smith Funeral Home chapel in Flatonia.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, the Rev. John Bily officiating.

Burial will be at Cistern Catholic Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia, 361-865-3311.
