Alva R. Burdick 74, 1023 Sutherland Avenue., a carpenter until his retirement 10 years ago, died unexpectedly Friday morning at Mercy Hospital.

The son of Seymour and Clara Mallay Burdick, he was born in Afton, Oct. 14, 1891, and lived in Janesville most of his life. He was married to Catherine Cantwell Feb 14, 1912, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She died July 7, 1954. He was married to Etta Grimm Sept. 29, 1956.

Survivors are his wife; five sons, James, Robert, Donald and Walter, all of Janesville, and Dale, Beloit; five daughters, Mmes. Joseph Bouziane, Elmer Kotwitz and Robert Schumacher, Janesville, Mrs. Francis Petroski, Beloit and Mrs. Clarence Wendland, Shopiere; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Earl Lee, Marengo ILL; 31 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Griffin and Mrs. Edward Blank, both of Janesville, Mrs. Oscar Lodge, Hollywood CA.; and Mrs. William Neal, Arlington Heights IL; and a brother Seymour, Janesville. His wife, a son and a daughter preceded him in death.
