She was born April 15 1929, in Rooks County, to Lela M. And Benjamin F. Smith, the fifth of seven children. She attended Webster school. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Stockton.
She married Clarence O. Spencer Jr. on March 7, 1946 in Oberlin, Kansas. She was a homemaker and later the owner / operator of the North side Bait Shop at Webster Lake.
Survivors include five daughters: Connie (Richard) Klepper, Ellinwood, Carla ( Aron)) Mahon, Galva, Candace Orona and husband Ray Leigh, Tuscaloosa, Al. Donna Johnson, Toledo Bend, La. and Marilee (Rocky) Gumm, Glasco; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 1great-great grandchild, a brother, Benny R. Smith of Mckinleyville, Ca., and a sister Christine L. Hance of Stockton, Ks. Daphne was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, a son, Tim and grandson, Ben, and 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Arrangements for cremation are by Smith-Moore- Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Daphne's name to the Senior Citizen Center in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, Kansas 67669.
