Michael Metcalf, Jr., purportedly b. Aug. 29, 1620 at St. Benedict parish at Norwich, England. His baptism is unknown as the year 1620 is missing in the St. Benedict parish register. He d. Mar. 25, 1654 at Dedham, Mass.

On Apr. 2, 1644 at Dedham, Mass., Michael m. Mary Fairbanks, dau. of Jonathan Fairbanks, Sr. and Grace Smith, b. or bapt. Apr. 12, 1622 near Halifax in Yorkshire, England. They had the following five children, all b. of record at Dedham, Mass.:

• i. Michael Metcalf, the 3rd, b. Jan. 21, 1644/5, d. Sept. 11, 1693 at Dedham; m. Sept. 19, 1672 at Dedham, Elizabeth Fuller, dau. of Lieut. Thomas Fuller and Hannah Flower and widow of John Kingsley of Dedham. She was b. Apr. 1, 1648 at Dedham where she d. Oct. 24, 1732. Seven children of the family. Elizabeth had m. 1) Nov. 29, 1666 at Dedham, John Kingsley, s. of Joseph Kingsley and his wife Millicent. He was b. Aug. 15, 1643 at Dedham where he d. May 30, 1669. There was one child of Elizabeth's first marriage, dau. Elizabeth b. Nov 23, 1668, who was subsequently raised in the Metcalf household.

• ii. Mary Metcalf, b. Aug. 15, 1646, d. Mar. 22, 1676/7 at Dedham; m. Dec. 10, 1668 at Dedham as the first of his three wives, Capt. John Ware, eldest child of the immigrants Robert Ware and Margaret Hunting, b. Oct. 11, 1646 at Dedham. He d. Apr. 7, 1718 at Wrentham, Mass. Mary (Metcalf) Ware was the mother of five children, but only two survived past infancy; i. John Ware, Jr., b. June 17, 1670 and v. Eleazer Ware, b. Oct. 2, 1676.

• iii. Sarah Metcalf, b. Dec. 7, 1648, d. Apr. 13, 1717 at Wrentham, Mass.; m. June 4, 1677 at Dedham as his first wife, Robert Ware, Jr., s. of the Dedham immigrants Robert Ware and Margaret Hunting, b. Aug. 1, 1653 at Dedham. Eight children of the family. Robert Ware d. Sept. 16, 1724 at Wrentham. He m. 2) Feb. 26, 1719/20 at Wrentham, Elizabeth Holbrook.

• iv. Dea. Jonathan Metcalf, b. Sept. 21, 1650, d. May 23, 1727 at Dedham; m. Apr. 10, 1674 at Dedham, Hannah Kendric, dau. of John Kendric and Anna Satwell, b. Mar. 20, 1651/2 at Boston, Mass. She d. Dec. 23, 1731 at Dedham. Ten children of the family

• v. Dea. Eleazer Metcalf, b. Mar. 2, 1652/3, d. Sept. 13, 1704 at Wrentham, Mass.; m. Apr. 9, 1684 at Wrentham, Meletiah Fisher, dau. of Samuel Fisher and Meletiah Snow, b. May 1, 1667 at Dedham. She d. Sept. 23, 1719 at Wrentham. They had at least eight children.

The wid. Mary (Fairbanks) Metcalf m. 2) Aug. 2, 1654 at Dedham as his 2nd wife, Christopher Smith, who d. Nov. 7, 1676 at Dedham. Mary (Fairbanks)(Metcalf) Smith d. June 4, 1684 at Dedham. She had one child by her second husband, son John Smith, b. Nov. 19, 1655 at Dedham.
