Son of William Robert Harrelson and Elizabeth Jane Bradley Harrelson. On July 22, 1903 in Cleveland County Arkansas married Maud Corena Martin; they had twelve children and all of them grew to maturity. James Benjamin (J.B.) was their first child to die; he died at the age of 32 on June 13, 1944 in the hedgerows of Normandy France during the D-Day invasion. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach, near Colleville-sur-Mer.
