Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Aase Benson, 89, were held Saturday Oct. 16 at the Moland Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karsten Kristenson officiating. Interment took place at the Moland cemetery. Mrs. Evelyn Olson sang "Beyond The Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Joe Rocek, the church organist. David Aase, Rudolph Baalson, George Kelsey, Palmer Benson, Stanley Aase and Joseph Johnson served as pallbearers.

The daughter of Ole and Martha Nystad Aase, pioneers of the Moland area, she was born on April 29, 1882 in Dodge County. On April 12, 1918 she married Joseph L. Benson, also of the Moland area, at her father's home. They continued to reside in the Moland community, and she was a lifelong member of the Moland Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Benson, who passed away on Oct. 13 at the Owatonna City Hospital, is survived by her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Mrs. Arvid (Marian) Oman of Waseca and Mrs. Lila Mork of Owatonna; three granddaughters, Mrs. William (Linda Behrends, Mrs. Harland (Jean) Rognmoe, and Suzanne Mork; and two great-grandsons, Scott and Eric Rognmoe. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin, Oscar, George and John Aase; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Bertine) Heyer and Jenny Aase, and one great-granddaughter, Amy Marie Behrends.
