He served in the U. S. Army in the 331st Ordinance Depot Company from 1944 to 1946. Sam was employed by Dexter Shoe Company for 20 years and then left to start his own construction company. He also organized a bus service to transport people from surrounding towns to Dexter Shoe. His passion in life was motorcycles and truck driving for Fox & Ginn Company. He helped design the Fox and Ginn logo. He was a 52 year member of AA and was a member of the Dexter First Free Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Johnson) Wilcox of Dexter; 2 sons, and their wives Timothy and Linda Wilcox of Boothbay and Kenneth and Audrey Johnson of Dexter; a brother, Eldon Wilcox, and sister Mae Skidgel, both of Caribou; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Mandie, Aimee and Allison; a step-grandson, Scott; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a step grandson, Bruce, and 6 brothers.
