Emogene (Stone) Tillman

Emogene (Stone) Tillman, 88, Ozark, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark.

She was born August 11, 1922 in Linden, Missouri, the daughter of the late John Cue and Iva Ann (Bray) Stone. She was united in marriage on January 21, 1941 in Harrison, Arkansas to Joseph Stanley Tillman. He preceded her in death in 1996. A son and daughter completed their family, as they made their home in the Mentor Community. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Short.

Emogene attended Blue Star and Ozarks Schools. Her special love for art and design was appreciated by many. In the late 30's she was a window decorator for Neff-Petersons dress shop and "Hats by Ann Massey" in Springfield and later, a floral designer. She will be remembered for her volunteer work in the community and schools. She was a member of the Church of Christ where she taught children's classes. She was a dedicated wife, helpful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a son, Joe Tillman and wife Katie, a daughter, Becky Mathenia and husband Dan, all of Springfield; four grandsons, Chris Tillman and wife Traci, Aaron Tillman and wife Anne, all of Rogersville; Kevin Tillman and wife Amy, and Adam Mathenia, all of Springfield; two granddaughters, Amy Phillips and husband John, and Holly Burtrum and husband Marc, all of Springfield; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Grant, Zach, Brody and Kahlen, and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 in Dodson Cemetery, Rogersville under direction of J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2011 in the funeral home.
