Aebig, Robert E., 72, of Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2004 following a short illness. He was born April 16, 1931 in Shelby, the son of Eli and Rosamon (Pfennig) Aebig. He was an Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War. After military service he lived in California for a year before returning to Shelby. He married Joy Gifford on May 19, 1956. He was employed at Hooker Chemical Company for 27 years and retired from Lorin Industries after 13 years in 1996. Aebig was a member of First Baptist Church in Hart. He is survived by his wife, Joy: his children, Michael R. (Kathy) Aebig of Shelby, Karen L. (Edward) Isley of Hart, James L. (Diane) Aebig of Rothbury and Timothy J. (Beth) Aebig of Muskegon; his grandchildren, Jillian (Hollis) Rockwell, Bethany Isley, Robert Isley, Thomas, Molly, Hannah and Ryan Aebig; great-granddaughter, Nicole Rockwell; brother, Gordon (Miriam) Aebig; sister-in-law, Shirley Aebig, brother-in-law, John Graham and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Clement, Marvin, Allan and Paul and sister, Carol Graham. The funeral service Tuesday, March 9, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Hart. Interment in Mennonite Cemetery under the auspices of Robert W. Wiswell VFW Post 9441 and Gordon Bates American Legion Post #30. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Crystal Valley Care Fund are appreciated. Arrangements by Harris Funeral Home, Shelby.
