A Saluda resident, she was a member of the Nazareth United Methodist Church, the Mamie Black Sunday School Class, and the UMW.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Owens Bedenbaugh; daughters, Loreita B. Shealy & Vanessa B. Attardo; her parents, Pierce & Corrie Matthews.

Survivors include her children, Legar O. Bedenbaugh (Betty), Saluda, M. Osborne Bedenbaugh (Bonnie), Batesburg, James H. Bedenbaugh (Sue), North Augusta, Margaret Shealy (Roosevelt), Batesburg; son-in-law, Richard W. Shealy, Batesburg; brothers, Alvin Matthews, Batesburg, Blease Matthews of Vermont, & Lorenzo Matthews, Batesburg; sisters, Lessie Adams, Batesburg, Ronell Rushford, & Ruby Burnor, both of Vermont; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church on Monday, January 26, 2004; Revs. Boyd Chewning & W.O. Johnson presided. Arrangements by the Ramey Funeral Home, Saluda, SC.

Pallbearers were he grandsons, Mike Bedenbaugh, Ricky Shealy, Charlie Shealy, John Wayne Shealy, Randy Shealy, & Brandon Bedenbaugh.
