"Baby Dean" as the family referred to him died from complications of pneumonia at the home of his grandparents, Ellen and Charles Crowther in Grenola, Kansas. His mother, Stella Barnes was caring for him in town instead of at home on their farm west of Grenola to be close to the doctor. Sadly, baby Dean couldn't fight off the illness at the age of 18 months.
