On December 5, 1965, he was a member of a squad on a ground combat mission in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam. He was mortally wounded and his squad members were unable to recover his remains. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.

He preceded her in death on June 15, 1958. Mrs. Eisenberger was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are: Her children, Charlene Schimeneck of Dana Point, California, Kenneth Charles Eisenberger of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Marcia Williams of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Angeline Kekahbah of Pawhuska; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
**** In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, George Joseph Eisenberger, who died during the Vietnam War.
Services were held October 14, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska with Donald Stephens officiating. Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.George Joe Buck Eisenberger was an American Indian.

PFC Morris Dibble and SSgt. Edward C. Upner were squad members of a team lead by Sgt. George J. Eisenberger on a ground combat mission in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam on December 5, 1965.
The unit came under hostile fire from what was believed to be a Viet Cong encampment, and in the first burst of fire, the three men were mortally wounded.
When the unit was able to withdraw from the combat area, it was not possible to recover Dibble, Upner and Eisenberger.
When the enemy threat abated, the squad reentered the area in an attempt to find the bodies, but they were gone.
It was generally believed that they were taken by the Viet Cong and probably buried, which was not at all an uncommon thing to do.
The three members of Company B are listed among the dead, but because their bodies were not recovered, they are also listed among the missing.
