Edna Basinger

BLUFFTON -- Edna L. Basinger, 91, of Bluffton, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Van Buren Township to John Adam Andrew and E. Mary (Redick) Bower. She married Ambert Basinger on Dec. 22, 1935, and he died on March 15, 1987.
Surviving are three sons, Frederick H. (Janice) Basinger, Lima; Richard A. (Marylin) Basinger, Bluffton; Thomas J. (Pamela) Basinger, Findlay; a daughter, Irene (Jerry) Althaus, Bluffton; two sisters, Alta (Merrit) Schaller and Frances (Cecil) Young, both of Jenera; two sister-in-laws, Mary Ellen Bower and Elizabeth Bower, both of Jenera; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, J. Marion and Ezra Bower.
Mrs. Basinger worked at the Tripplett Corporation, Bluffton, and had also worked at Bluffton Schools and at the Bluffton News. She had also cleaned homes in Bluffton.
She was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Bluffton.
She attended Rawson Schools.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the English Lutheran Church, Bluffton, the Rev. Kevin Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton.
Memorials may be made to English Lutheran Church, Putnam County Hospice and Mennonite Memorial Home.
