Sarah Fleming Reitinger was the wife of Frederick Reitinger, who served as a Private in Company I of the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.
She was a daughter of Robert Fleming and Catherine (Filler) Fleming.
They were married on July 5, 1857 in Adams County, Pennsylvania. She was the widow of a man named Lohr when she was married to Reitinger.
Sometime after the Civil War, they took up residence near Hanover, Pennsylvania, about 12 miles southeast of Gettysburg.
Frederick died on May 6, 1890.
Sarah died on December 21, 1907, and was buried next to her husband in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.
She was the first woman ever buried in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.
She had originally been buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.
She was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on December 23, 1907.
